Hurrah! A success with taping 🙂 I have to owe the success to the Seche Vite top coat.. the quick-dry-magical one. I’d tried taping before, and it failed miserably. The tape had pulled up my base coat and it was all just a big mess. But today, I had spent some time today admiring sparkly manicures on Pinterest and decided that I wanted to do one! It was really easy to do, But I do wish I had used different colors. It looks a little too… not professional looking… (???)
On to the pictures!
I used O.P.I’s “Sweet Heart” (two coats) for my base color, and then added one coat of Seche Vite. Then, doing one nail at a time, I put tape diagonally across the nail and painted Sally Hansen’s “Strobe Light” (only needed one coat!) over it, then peeled the tape right off. Once it dried, I finished with another coat of Seche Vite to “protect” the line between the two colors, and help dry the sparkles a little bit faster.
It was really quick to do. I wasn’t as careful as I should have been about making all of the nails look the same. You can see it above; my ring finger is split about half and half, and my middle finger has a much smaller tip on it. I like the smaller tips better. Lesson learned, I guess. 🙂
This is my excuse for the bad lighting and shadows. I didn’t have any natural light, (I could have just waited until tomorrow, but whatever) so this is my improvised “two white envelopes leaning against a cup of tea with a lamp shining on it” area to take pictures on. 🙂
