NARS Albatross Swatches and Review

I’m so excited about this! 🙂 Today, I went out on a shopping trip with my family, and we stopped by a video game store for my brother… conveniently, there was a little makeup outlet a few doors down that sells NARS products. I’ve been wanting the NARS Albatross highlighter, Isolde eyeshadow duo, and the Douceur blush for weeks now. Originally, I was planning on saving up and buying all three at once, but I decided to go ahead and buy one of the three today. (I mean, there was MAKEUP for sale three doors down… how could I resist??)

After some heavy deliberation and lots of swatching, I decided I wanted Albatross the most. I don’t have a highlighter in my makeup collection, and I’ve always thought that something you will wear everyday (concealer, foundation, eye primer) is something you’re definitely allowed to splurge on. 🙂

First of all, I would like to say thanks to mommy who let me borrow her fancy-pants camera! It was so fun to get better pictures of swatches and things! But anyway, this is what the packaging looks like. I love the NARS packaging. If you’ve never felt it, it’s really high-quality and durable, and it feels like a rubbery plastic material. NARS products always feel expensive to me when I hold them, which I love! They come in little cardboard boxes, wrapped up in a second layer of cardboard to keep them from wobbling around in their boxes. When you open them up, they have a little plastic cover on them with the NARS brand on it, and a huge mirror, which is really nice. The only complaint I have about the packaging is about the stickers on the back- they’re almost always crooked!

Against a white background, with the plastic cover on.
Against my hand, plastic sheet off.
Concentrated swatch on my finger- comes off as metallic white with gold sheen.

Swatch on my arm- sorry its so hard to see! This was the best picture I could get. (It is a highlighter, after all..) Albatross is so shimmery and beautiful- it turns completely gold when you sheer it out on your skin. You would never know that it looks like a white powder in more condensed swatches. It’s really reflective and I’m really happy with it! 🙂

Today I tried this on my cheekbones, browbones, inner corner, and cupid’s bow, and I really liked it! I think it was really flattering on me, and It could even work as a sheer gold eyeshadow if I wanted to layer it over other colors. I’m really excited to see how this looks with different blushes and bronzers, and I’m excited to show you what I come up with!

Thank you for reading, I hope you’re having a lovely day ❤
