Review: Revlon "Just Bitten" Kissable Balm Stains

My makeup routine has changed drastically this week- I’ve been going for the really “natural” “back-to-basics” look, and that has mostly involved highlighter, defined brows, and lip stain.
I bought this lip stain a week ago, the Revlon “Just Bitten Kissable” Balm Stain in the color “Charm,” and I wore this for five out of the seven days this week… (to put that in perspective, I bought my first M.A.C. lipstick last weekend!) This goes on with so much pigmentation, and turns a perfect peach color on my lips. (Big scary picture of my lips below, to show you the color on me.) It has a minty taste- similar to how Burt’s Bees lip balm smells- but doesn’t have any of the cold/tingly/lip plumping feeling, which I really dislike. The balm lasts for a while, probably around an hour, and the stain dries to a medium pink color (which lasts for hours!) When it dries, my lips don’t feel tight or dry or anything like that. I can’t think about anything that I would change about this! I want to go back and buy several of the other ones- especially the orange one (“Rendezvous”), and the nude (“Precious”).

These retail for around $7, which seems expensive for drugstore lip products. I would have spent a lot more on the one I have, though, because I really do think the quality is so great. I know I have at least one coupon for Revlon right now, so I know they’re out there if you look! 🙂 I’m planning on hoarding up some coupons, waiting for a Revlon sale, and then going out to get a little rainbow of these!

Just a little side note: I was really surprised when I opened mine, because the product doesn’t look like a lip balm at all! It definitely looks like a lipstick. I think I was imagining something like the transparent, tinted, jelly balms like the Clinique stains. I have had problems with some of the really soft lipsticks in the past, like the Revlon Lip Butters. One of my Lip Butters melts, breaks, drips, and runs everywhere, and I was really glad that these lip stains had a different consistency. They don’t melt, and they really are formulated like a regular lip balm.

Have you tried any of these? Any color recommendations?
