I have tried so many new things this month, because a birthday is a nice reason to buy yourself some makeup. After multiple trips to Sephora, an embarrassing romp at M.A.C- where I dropped an eyeshadow on the floor- and a swipe of a Target giftcard, I have a new morning routine and some good reasons to get out of bed on time to get ready.
My biggest surprise of the month goes to the L’Oreal Magic Perfecting Base, which I thought might be a good (read: cheap) option to see what I thought about foundation primers. However, I was so surprised at how amazing this is: it blends amazingly well, disappears into my skin, holds on my blush for ages, keeps shine off my face, and hasn’t broken me out for the three weeks that I’ve been using it. So impressed.
O.P.I. Drip Dry also was added to my purchases this month. I have no idea what they’re made of, but one or two drops per wet-lacquered nail dries it in less than a minute and makes my manicures manageable. I think this bottle will last me forever, so if you’re interested, I think it’s definitely worth it.
I also bought my first M.A.C. brush this month- a 217. I’ve used it everyday since I got it, and I’m so glad I have it. It’s a perfect size to blend through my crease, blend concealer, or dust on highlighter. Mine stays eternally dirty, but I know it will be well-loved for years.
Two lip products lived in my pockets all of September: the Dior Lip Glow, and the Maybelline Color Whisper in “One Size Fits Pearl.” The Dior offering is a thick, moisturizing formula that tints your lips with the healthiest of pink shades that you can imagine… very English rose. The Maybelline Color Whisper gives nearly no color at all, but a really nice shine and shimmer, and the comfort that comes along with all of the Color Whisper shades. Will definitely be running out soon… and then running out to Target to get another one!
Finally, the Covergirl “Tapestry Taupe” eyeshadow has gotten much love from me this September. I’ve worn it almost everyday, smudged on with my beloved 217. It’s one of those eyeshadows that works as an entire shadow look on it’s own. Lastly, the Tarte blush in “Exposed” has been my favorite blush of September. It’s a perfect brown/pink that matches anything and everything and lasts all day. Can’t beat that.
