This past weekend I went on a women’s retreat with a ministry group from my college. I had an amazing weekend bonding with other girls, meeting new ones, and growing in Christ with some of my closest friends. The theme of the weekend was “Delight.” We talked about what we delight in, how we can delight in God, how God delights in us, and especially how God delights in how we grow closer to Him.
The transition from fun days in a beautiful cabin on a mountain filled with really cool girls (seriously, y’all were mad rad) and a really encouraging atmosphere back to dorm life (think mold and loud neighbors) was really harsh. The cabin had hot showers and healthy, delicious breakfast every morning, and a coffee maker that made coffee and not “coffee-water” like ours does. I traded mountain hikes, interstate sing-a-longs, Gatlinburg traffic hilarities, and outlet malls for lonely walks to class, half-hearted cut-downs from friends, an 8 page research paper, and spring class registration stress.
Basically, I’m learning that God’s peace, community, and love are altogether tangible, refreshing, and constant even when I don’t always feel like that’s true. Even when my company isn’t uplifting and full of God’s love, I can depend on Him to satisfy my heart and encourage me. He is delighted when I am delighted and resting in redemption. I just need to remember to seek out His love and to show it to others that likely are hurting in all the same ways as me.

So, yeah, you, reading this… I love you. And He loves you, too.

Journal page and passage from this weekend- Zephaniah 3. feat. leaf and my underlining skills
